Know Before You Go – Troupe Directors

Directors: Here’s what to keep in mind as you lead your troupe.

  • Register in two steps — start with Pre-Registration, then complete Full Registration when it opens.

  • Pay attention to key dates — Final Registration & materials are due Jan. 12, 2026; payments are due Jan. 30, 2026.

  • Wait for your invoice — once your registration is processed, you’ll receive an invoice with your exact fees and instructions. Festival payments are made by check only.

  • Check-in is director-only — you (or another designated adult) will handle Festival check-in for your troupe.

  • Badges = access — make sure your students wear theirs at all times (replacement cost is $5).

  • Pitch in together — every troupe will be given volunteer assignments (like ushering or room support).

  • Plan ahead for performances — program details (title, cast, notes, warnings) must be submitted by Jan. 12.

  • Rights & royalties matter — secure them for any production you perform.

  • Support your students — you’re responsible for supervision, safety, and behavior throughout Festival.

  • Join the conversation — Gather with other directors at the Saturday Annual Meeting to network and cast votes on Montana Thespian business.

📂 Reminder: Full details are in the downloadable Troupe Director Packet & Performance Packet below.

Know Before You Go —Students

🎭 Students: Your quick guide to making the most of Festival.

  • Badges = your Festival pass — wear them proudly, everywhere you go.

  • Stick together — always use the buddy system if you leave PARTV, and check in with your director.

  • Fuel up — Festival concessions in the lobby, campus dining, and restaurants across the bridge are all options.

  • Theatre etiquette matters — no phones, no talking, no food/drink in the Montana Theatre, and never walk on the seats.

  • Capture memories, not shows — photos and recording are not allowed during performances.

  • Arrive early — workshops and shows are first-come, first-served.

  • Be kind — treat everyone with respect; bullying, harassment, or discrimination won’t fly here.

  • Stay safe — follow all directions from UM staff and Festival volunteers in an emergency.

  • Shine bright — you represent your troupe, school, and Montana Thespians!
