ALL Thespys Registration Open: September 15th, 2026
ALL Thespys Registration Due (via Troupe Director): November 12th, 2026 by 5:00 PM MT
In-PERSON Submissions Due: November 12th, 2026 by 5:00 PM MT
All Thespys Check Payments Due: December 1st, 2026
VIRTUAL Material/Submissions Due: January 22nd, 2027
Important Details:
Each student must be registered by their troupe director.
All technical thespys will be done virtually this year, so there's a slightly different timeline and deadlines for technical thespys than the in-person Performance thespys.
Please note: each student and Thespy entry need to be entered individually.
Before Registering Students, please ensure Parent/guardian permission has been obtained for participation.
Space is limited in all available categories this year. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We will also maintain a waiting list — so if space opens up due to a change in plans or an incomplete registration, we can offer that spot to another interested student.
How It Works:
Students choose a category and select approved material with their Troupe/Theatre Director. Each student can participate in up to three categories, combining across Performance and Technical Thespys. View this Year’s Categories

Troupe/Theatre Directors register all student entries using the online sign-up form by November 12th — one student per registration.
Please note: this year, only Performance Thespys will take place at the Festival. All Technical Thespys will be adjudicated virtually.Payment is due by December 1st, by card or by check.
Students prepare using the official rules and rubrics.
Performance Thespys: Room assignments and times are emailed closer to the Festival.
Technical Thespys: Materials and presentations are submitted virtually by January 22nd.
Students present for adjudication — Performance Thespys in person at the Festival, Technical Thespys virtually — and receive written feedback and a rating.
Students earning a Superior rating may qualify for International Thespian Festival (ITF) finals in June (in-person or virtual).
Multiple entries: Students may enter more than one category at the state level, but may not submit more than one entry in the same category. At the national level, only one entry per category may advance to ITF finals.
**Recommended: Register all your performance thespy students, then register all your technical thespy students.
If you have a student doing both a performance thespy and a technical thespy, you will have to fill out a short registration form twice for them.

Thespys® Terms & Policies:
Troupe Directors must submit student registrations by November 12th, 2026. Material Submissions must be submitted by Nov. 12th for In-Person/Performance Thespys and Jan. 22, 2027 for Technical/Virtual Thespys.
Students under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian to participate. Troupe Directors are responsible for confirming this permission.
Thespys registration is separate from Festival registration. Students must be registered for the Festival through their Troupe Director in order to participate.
Fees are nonrefundable after January 1st, 2027.
Participation does not guarantee advancement to ITF finals.
Adjudicator fairness policies apply (no adjudicator will be assigned to their own student’s category).
